Wintry weather may force some Easter activities inside

MARSHALL — A variety of Easter holiday events for children and families are on the calendar for this weekend. With wintry weather ahead in the forecast for southwest Minnesota, some planned events have already switched to indoor venues.

In Marshall, the planned Easter fun will be inside at the Lyon County Museum and at the Marshall Area YMCA. Today through Saturday, the museum will be holding an Easter egg and bunny scavenger hunt during museum hours. Visitors can count eggs and bunnies in the exhibit galleries.

“We always try to put them in different spots,” said museum director Jennifer Andries. In addition to playing the scavenger hunt game, “It’s a nice chance to check out the exhibits,” she said.

Scavenger hunt sheets can be turned in for treats at the museum’s front desk.

Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 4 on Saturday.

A different kind of Easter egg hunt is planned at the Marshall Area YMCA on Saturday. The YMCA’s Easter Egg Swim will be held at the indoor pool from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. The aquatic egg hunt will have three different time slots for children ages 3-6, ages 7-9, and ages 10-14. Children in the age 3-6 group are required to have a guardian in the water with them.

Cost for the YMCA event is $5 for members and $10 for non-members. Registration for the event is open online at https://marshallareaymca.org/events/easter-egg-swim.
