Search ongoing for missing boy in Mankato area

BLUE EARTH COUNTY — The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a 12-year-old boy who was reported as a runaway Sunday night. A news release from the Sheriff’s Office said Sayvon Deongelo Brown was last seen leaving a rural residence near Eagle Lake. Later investigation determined that Brown was picked up by a light-colored 4-door pickup truck in Mankato around 10 p.m. Sunday.

The Sheriff’s Office received a report of a juvenile runaway on Sunday evening at a rural residence on Blue Earth County Road 17 near Eagle Lake, the news release said. Deputies were told that Brown was last seen leaving the residence and walking toward Mankato around 8:30 p.m.

The news release described Sayvon Brown as a light-skinned black male, about five feet tall and weighing about 80 pounds. He was wearing dark clothing when he was last seen.

The Sheriff’s Office said multiple searches for Brown were conducted in the area with the help of drones from the Sheriff’s Office and Mankato DPS. Additional investigation Monday determined that Brown was picked up by a light-colored 4-door pickup in the area near the intersection of Highway 22 and Adams Street around 10 p.m.
