MILROY — Waving her hand, Addie Rykhus, 3, raced over to the Easter Bunny sitting on a bench inside the Milroy School cafeteria. Rykhus then gave the Easter Bunny a hug.

For Alicia Eliason, who has donned the Easter Bunny suit for more than five years for the Milroy School PTO sponsored event, it was another enjoyable event.

“It’s great to see the kids that have came year after year,” Eliason said. “Growing from babies and being so scared and now being curious and actually smiling going through the door.”

While enjoying interacting with the children, Eliason said it does get hot inside the Easter Bunny suit.

Rykhus was among about 50 children who went through the door and entered the school cafeteria on Saturday for the annual Easter egg hunt and activities. The PTO hosts the activities that include crafts, cooking decorating, a potato sack race and bunny tail toss.

The Milroy Lions Club hosts the egg hunt that follows the PTO activities. The egg hunt was held inside the school’s gym. Lions Club Secretary Dan Leach said the club has hosted the egg hunt for about 20 years. He said normally the egg hunt is held at the park but the weather forced activities inside.
