MARSHALL — What started with a simple invite, turned into fun in the snow for a group of Marshall area residents this weekend. On Saturday, a group of residents at Heritage Pointe Senior Living headed outside to have a “snow day” with community life director Laurie Ourada.
“It was just so joyful,” Ourada said.
Ourada said she and her husband were headed into Marshall on Saturday, when a couple inches of fluffy snow blanketed the area.
“I absolutely love fresh fallen snow, when it’s fluffy like that,” Ourada said. She made a phone call to Heritage Pointe, inviting residents to come join her outside. When she arrived at Heritage Pointe, “There were five people waiting for me, bundled up in their coats and gloves,” she said.
The group had fun making snowballs and tossing handfuls of snow into the air. The Ouradas had also brought an old wooden sled with them. While the snow-covered lawn outside Heritage Pointe wasn’t the best surface for sliding on, the Ouradas and the group of residents helped push and pull residents on the sled.

“The old wooden sled definitely brought some memories back” for residents, Ourada said. The experience was a fun one for everybody, she said. One resident said, “I’ll do that again,” she said.
