Tyler man charged with child pornography possession in S.D.
TYLER — A Tyler man was arrested Friday, and is now facing charges of child pornography possession in South Dakota, according to court records.
A criminal complaint filed Thursday in Lincoln County, South Dakota, court said Zane Ryan Schuur, 21, is charged with 10 counts of possessing child pornography. Online court records said Schuur appeared in court in South Dakota Monday morning and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
An affidavit filed in South Dakota circuit court alleged that the Lennox, South Dakota, Police requested to search Schuur’s cell phone during investigation of a report of sexual assault in Lennox. The affidavit alleged that investigators ended up finding more than 2,000 files of child pornography pictures and videos on the phone. The affidavit alleged that AI software appeared to have been used to remove the clothing of juveniles in images. The affidavit alleged that some images of children appeared to be taken from photos at school sporting events and in school hallways.
On Friday, the Tyler Tribute newspaper reported on its Facebook page that the Buffalo Ridge Drug Task Force, Tyler Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department and the Department of Homeland Security executed a search warrant on Oak Street in Tyler. The search led to the arrest of Schuur, the Tribute said.
South Dakota court records said Schuur appeared in Lincoln County, South Dakota, criminal circuit court on Monday. Future hearing dates were set for March 10 and April 9, according to court records.
