Two charged with assault with dangerous weapon in Marshall

MARSHALL — Two Marshall residents appeared in Lyon County District Court on Friday, on charges of allegedly threatening a person with knives.

Joseph Jerome Banks, 39, appeared in court on charges of second degree assault with a dangerous weapon and making terroristic threats, court records said. Rhonda Rashelle Stuckey, 31, appeared on charges of second degree assault with a dangerous weapon, making terroristic threats, and driving after revocation.

Criminal complaints filed in Lyon County District Court alleged that, on Feb. 12, a Marshall resident reported having words with Banks over the phone, and that later Stuckey and Banks had showed up outside the residence with knives. The complaints alleged that when law enforcement pulled over Stuckey’s vehicle, a knife was found in the vehicle’s center console. The complaints alleged a second knife was also found on the floor of the vehicle near the front passenger seat.

Banks and Stuckey denied threatening to use a weapon, the complaints alleged. Stuckey told law enforcement she kept the knives in her car for her own protection, the complaints alleged.

At bail hearings on Friday, bail for Banks was set at $90,000 without conditions, or $60,000 with conditions including that Banks have no contact with the alleged victims and stay away from their residence. Bail for Stuckey was set at $45,000 without conditions, or $30,000 with conditions including that she have no contact with the alleged victims and stay away from their residence, court records said.

Future hearing dates for Banks and Stuckey were set for Feb. 24.
