Two injured in three-vehicle crash

COTTONWOOD — Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash Monday on Minnesota Highway 23 north of Cottonwood, the Minnesota State Patrol said. A Sauk Centre woman went to Avera Marshall Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol said.

The crash was reported at 12:14 p.m., near the intersection of Highway 23 and 160th Avenue near Cottonwood. A 2013 Lincoln MKX driven by Katie Elizabeth Leslie, 40, of Sauk Centre, was westbound on Highway 23 when it crossed into the eastbound lane, the State Patrol said. The Lincoln sideswiped a 2022 Peterbilt semi truck driven by John David Wright, 49, of Brandon, S.D., and collided with the front end of a third vehicle, a 2024 Ram pickup driven by Todd Michael Risa, 63, of Clarkfield.

Both Leslie and Risa received non life-threatening injuries, but Risa did not go to a health care facility, the State Patrol reported. Leslie went to Avera Marshall.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office also responded at the crash scene.
