Man injured in Balaton hit and run incident
BALATON — A rural Balaton man was arrested in connection with a hit and run incident that injured a pedestrian Saturday night, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said.
The incident is still under investigation, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Around 11:20 p.m. Saturday, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a hit and run on the 200 block of South Central Avenue in Balaton. A 31-year-old man received minor injuries when he was struck by a Ford pickup that fled the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said. Balaton Ambulance transported the man to Avera Marshall Medical Center, where he was treated for injuries and released, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Around midnight, Lyon County deputies located the pickup and driver at the driver’s residence, the Sheriff’s Office said. The driver, a 30-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of criminal vehicular operation and second degree assault, and was transported to the Lyon County Jail to be held for court, the Sheriff’s Office said.
