A new sign posted Win a roundabout way

Workers putting finishing touces on roadway connection

Workers installed a sign with the Marshall city logo at the center of the new roundabout near the National Guard armory in Marshall.

MARSHALL — Workers were putting one of the finishing touches on the new roundabout in Marshall on Friday. The center of the roundabout, located near the National Guard armory, has a raised center with landscaping of plants and rocks. And now it also has a sign featuring the Marshall city logo.

Crews put the Marshall ‘M’ logo on the side of a monument-style sign base. The logo will be visible to drivers entering Marshall from the west on Highway 19.

There are still a few tasks that construction crews are working on for this year’s portion of a major reconstruction project on Highway 19. Concrete work on the project is complete, and crews will be working on the asphalt connecting the new road surface to side streets, said Sandra Schlagel, public engagement coordinator with the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Turf establishment along the project area will also come after that, she said.

Currently, MnDOT does not have a set date when Highway 19 will reopen between Fairgrounds Road and Main Street. Schlagel said they are hoping the roadway can reopen sometime next week.

Currently, a detour on Highway 19 is still in place in Marshall. Local crossings are open at Saratoga Street, Legion Field Road, Parkview Drive and Marlene Street. Marvin Schwan Memorial Drive is open to allow access to public parking downtown.

Starting at $3.95/week.
