Kor receives probation for check forgery, fraud charges

MARSHALL — A Marshall woman who pleaded guilty to check forgery and financial transaction card fraud received probation, with conditions including that she serve time in jail, Lyon County District Court records said.

Rikki Lee Kor, 50, appeared in court Tuesday for a sentencing hearing. Earlier this year, Kor pleaded guilty to a total of five counts of check forgery and one count of financial transaction card fraud. A criminal complaint alleged Kor stole more than $95,000 while working as an accountant at KHC Construction in 2023 and 2024. The complaint alleged Kor issued checks to herself, and used a company credit card to make unauthorized purchases.

Court records said Kor’s attorney was seeking a reduced sentence, while the Lyon County Attorney’s Office opposed the request. The court received a victim impact statement from Kor’s former employer, as well as letters of support for Kor, asking the judge to consider alternatives to jail.

Court records said Kor received a stayed prison sentence of 45 months in prison, and five years of supervised probation. Conditions of her probation included that she serve 364 days in jail with credit for four days already served, that she obtain full-time employment, and that she pay $94,616.45 in restitution. Court records said Kor could serve her jail time in three different segments of about 120 days each. If Kor is making restitution payments on time, she could request that the second and third segments of jail time be waived, court records said.
