GREEN VALLEY — Area law enforcement responded to a collision involving a train and a semi truck north of Green Valley on Thursday.

The collision was reported around noon near the intersection of Lyon County Road 22 (340th Street) and Minnesota Highway 23. A BNSF railroad line crosses County Road 22 not far from the intersection.

A BNSF spokesperson confirmed Thursday that a train collided with a truck near Marshall, and that there were no injuries reported to the train crew. The incident did not result in the train derailing, the BNSF spokesperson said.

Initial calls reporting the crash said the driver of the semi was not injured in the collision, Lyon County Sheriff Eric Wallen said. However, more details were not available Thursday afternoon.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol both responded at the crash scene Thursday.

A semi truck with a damaged trailer could be seen off the road on the southbound side of the highway.
