Hwy. 23 detour ends today

Construction on Green Valley bridges complete

MARSHALL — A detour on Minnesota Highway 23 north of Marshall will be lifted starting this weekend, the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced Friday. A construction project on two bridges near Green Valley has been completed.

MnDOT said crews were clearing the road on Friday, and they planned to have the detour removed by the end of the day. The $1.5 million project included resurfacing two bridges that go over the Redwood River and Threemile Creek near Green Valley. The project also replaced the bridges’ approach panels and guardrails.

The construction would help extend the life of the bridges, and give drivers a smoother road surface, MnDOT said.

While bridge work was going on, traffic had been detoured onto Highway 19 and Lyon County Road 9. The detours had been in place since May.

Starting at $3.95/week.
