Temporary street closure for Aquatic Center work
MARSHALL — Part of Greeley Street will be closed today while construction of the new Marshall Aquatic Center takes another step forward.
Marshall city staff said crews will be installing the water and sewer connections needed for the Aquatic Center facility.
A news release from Marshall Public Works said the utility connection project would start at 5 a.m. today. Greeley Street will be closed from West College Drive to South First Street while the work is going on.
Water and sewer connection work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day, weather permitting, city staff said. In case of inclement weather, Monday, July 14, will be an alternate day for the street closure.
City staff said members of the public can contact Marshall Public Works with questions about the project.
Work on the new Aquatic Center, located on land at the corner of Saratoga Street and West College Drive, started off this spring. Over the past month, construction has made progress in spite of some rainy weather. In June, contractors installed footings and foundation walls for the pump pit, mechanical building and bathhouse, and installed electrical conduit and plumbing for pool drains. Drainage tile and storm sewer infrastructure were installed at the site, and excavation began for the center’s lap pool, according to updates on the Marshall city website.
