Marshall 16-year-old motorcyclist killed in highway crash
MARSHALL – A Marshall juvenile died on the scene of a two-vehicle Highway 23 motorcycle accident Monday afternoon.
Jaron Robert Kramer, 16 years old, was driving a Harley Davidson XL1200 motorcycle and crashed into the back of a Subaru Forester on Highway 23, the Minnesota State Patrol said. Kramer was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Subaru, 67-year-old Phyllis Kay Kennebeck of Lake Wilson, Minn., did not sustain any injuries, officials said.
Both drivers were traveling southbound on Highway 23 when Kramer rear-ended the back of the Forester near the intersection of Travis Road, according to state patrol.
Officials have not indicated what caused the collision, which was labeled as a dry road.
The accident happened around 2:15 p.m., and the Marshall Police Department, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota Department of Transportation responded to the scene. The accident was then handled and investigated by the Minnesota State Patrol.
Officials said it is unknown if the motorcyclist had a helmet on.
