Aebleskiver Days sees another strong turnout
TYLER — The annual Aebleskiver Days in Tyler over the weekend saw another strong turnout, welcoming live music, parades and an array of aebleskiver choices for people to indulge in.
“It went great. We had large crowds,” Diane Borresen, a festival organizer, said. “Tons of people eating aebleskiver, and every event was well attended. The parade, the vendor show, and everything under the tent.”
The festival saw new live music performances from the Pipestone Community Jazz Band, and Bob and the Beachcombers, who both were received well by the audience.
“It (live music) was excellent. Very good. Very happy with them,” Borresen said.
In one of the many community events, there was a parade float contest on Saturday under the theme of “Old MacDonald Had a Farm.” There was a first, second and third place winner for float decorations.
“SouthWest Chiropractic won first, and that was a prize of $200. Western Vet Clinic (got) second, and that was $100, then Buffalo Ridge Pheasants Forever was third, and that’s also $100,” Borresen said. “Then, the Old McDonald prize went to Tyler Library.”
The aebleskiver baking contest also saw a lot of success, with several tasty choices for festival-goers to experience. The dish resembles a ball-shaped Danish pancake.
“That was really fun … The best aebleskiver they made was Bourbon and Bacon. It was delicious,” Borresen said. “The second one, that one was a pineapple upside down cake, and she had caramel sauce on it. Third place was a cinnabun appleskever … It was a hard decision because they all did a very good job.”
