One injured in Hwy. 14 crash

LAKE BENTON — A South Dakota man was injured in a one-vehicle crash Wednesday night near Lake Benton, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

The crash was reported at 11:46 p.m., near the intersection of U.S. Highway 14 and Lincoln County Road 21. A 2011 GMC Sierra driven by Edward Clemence Drietz, 83, of Volga, S.D., was eastbound on Highway 14 when it left the road and crashed in the south ditch, the State Patrol said. Road conditions were wet at the time, the State Patrol said.

Drietz was taken to Avera Tyler Hospital with non life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol said. The State Patrol reported that Drietz was not wearing a seat belt.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Lake Benton Fire Department and First Responders, and Tyler Ambulance all responded at the crash scene.
