BALATON — Classic cars and trucks were cruising to Balaton on Wednesday evening as part of a roll-in event at Balaton Bay Golf Course.
The roll-ins are a new event that got started this spring, said Jaryn Steenhoven at Balaton Bay.
“We did our first roll-in, and it went really well,” Steenhoven said. After that first event last month, Balaton Bay owners planned regular roll-ins during the summer. There aren’t strict categories for the roll-in participants, Steenhoven said. “If it’s cool to people and it has wheels,” it can be part of the show.”
Steenhoven said the roll-ins were an idea the Fricke family had after they purchased Balaton Bay Golf Course this spring. The men in the Fricke family all love cars and motors, she said. The first roll-in on May 14 drew a good crowd, Steenhoven said. They had about 52 registered cars, and about 180 burgers were served up at the burger bar.
This summer, Balaton Bay plans to hold roll-in events every two weeks, through the month of September.
