Marshall Council approves plats for Donald St. townhomes

MARSHALL — A developer plans to build several townhomes on land along the south edge of Marshall, city council members learned Tuesday.

At this week’s regular city council meeting, council members approved new plats for a total of five lots along Donald Street.

Marshall Public Works Director Jason Anderson said the new plats would affect lots in the Carr IV and Carr II subdivisions in Marshall.

“This is a developer wishing to construct twin townhomes on these lots,” Anderson said. Council agenda materials said the townhomes would be similar to existing townhome units along Andrew Street to the north.

“There are six lots today, and they wish to have five (lots), to make sure they’re large enough to accommodate the twin townhome units,” Anderson said. Normally, the property owner would be able to split land from one parcel and combine it with another. However, the parcels of land were spread across two different subdivisions, so the city was required to re-plat the lots, Anderson said.

“City staff sees no concerns with the plats as presented,” he said.

Two separate motions to approve the preliminary and final plats for the lots were approved by the council.

Starting at $3.95/week.
