Green Valley bridge construction starts Monday

Hwy 23 detour will be in place north of Marshall

GREEN VALLEY — Drivers on Minnesota Highway 23 should get ready for detours starting next week. On May 12, construction crews will start a project to resurface two bridges on Highway 23 near Green Valley, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said Monday.

The project will close part of the highway north of Marshall this summer.

The construction project will focus on two bridges near Green Valley – one going over the Redwood River, and one going over Threemile Creek. MnDOT spokespeople said crews will resurface the two bridge decks, and replace guardrails and approach panels for each of the bridges.

The approximate cost of the project is $1.5 million, MnDOT said. PCiRoads, LLC, will be the primary contractor for the project.

A detour will be in place throughout the project. Through traffic on Highway 23 will need to take Minnesota Highway 19 east of Marshall and Lyon County road 9 to Cottonwood, MnDOT said. Construction is planned to end by the beginning of September.

More information on the project is available on the MnDOT District 8 website, at mndot.gov/d8/projects/hwy23greenvalley.

Starting at $3.95/week.
