Ivanhoe man charged with drug possession in Tuesday bust
An Ivanhoe man was arrested Tuesday, after a drug bust at an apartment complex in Ivanhoe. In a news release, the Buffalo Ridge Drug and Violent Crime Task Force said they executed a narcotics search warrant at the apartment complex, together with help from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
Joseph Alan Anderson, 59, was charged with first degree possession of controlled substances, and possession of ammunition by an ineligible person.
A criminal complaint said the BRDVCTF conducted a controlled delivery of a package to Anderson’s apartment on Tuesday. A postal inspector notified the BRDVCTF that Anderson was scheduled to receive a package from a Henderson, Nevada, address. The complaint alleged the postal inspector found the package at a postal sorting facility in Windom, and a K9 alerted for the presence of a controlled substance in the package.
The postal inspector applied for a federal search warrant to open the package, and found about 126 grams of methamphetamine inside, the complaint alleged. The package was then delivered to Anderson, and law enforcement conducted a search of his apartment.
The complaint alleged that the search found items related to drug trafficking, including scales and baggies containing meth, as well as two rounds of .270 caliber ammunition. The complaint said Anderson was not eligible to possess ammunition because of a prior felony conviction.
A bail hearing for Anderson was held Wednesday in Lincoln County District Court. Bail was set at $90,000 without conditions, or $60,000 cash or bond with conditions including that Anderson not leave Minnesota and be subject to random drug testing.
