Two injured in U.S. 59 crash
Ivanhoe man receives life-threatening injuries, State Patrol says
CLARKFIELD — Two men were injured in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi truck south of Clarkfield on Monday night. One of the injured men, an Ivanhoe resident, was taken to North Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries, the Minnesota State Patrol said.
The crash was reported at 9:40 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 59 and Yellow Medicine County Road 3. A 2016 Chevrolet Impala driven by Blake Alexander Regnier, 19, of Canby, was eastbound on County Road 3 at the time of the crash, and a 2009 Peterbilt semi driven by Clayton James Lahr, 23, of Garfield, was southbound on Highway 59. The two vehicles collided, the State Patrol said.
Regnier was transported to a St. Cloud hospital with non life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol said. A passenger in the Impala, 19-year-old Mason Eric Smith, of Ivanhoe, was taken to North Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The State Patrol reported that Regnier and Smith were not wearing seat belts.
Lahr was uninjured in the crash, the State Patrol said.
The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office, Clarkfield Fire and Ambulance, and Granite Falls Ambulance all responded at the crash scene.
