Two injured in crash at Highway 14 and 91

BALATON — Two people were injured Monday in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 14 and Minnesota Highway 91. A Marshall man and a Beaver Creek man received non life-threatening injuries, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

The crash was reported at 1:18 p.m. A 2005 Ford F150 driven by Raymond Elgin Schmidt, 74, of Marshall, was traveling south on Highway 91, and a 2012 Ford Fusion driven by Austin Brian Allen, 20, of Beaver Creek, was traveling west on Highway 14 at the time of the crash. The two vehicles collided in the intersection, the State Patrol said.

Schmidt was taken to Avera Marshall Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries. Allen was taken to Avera Tyler with non life-threatening injuries.

Balaton Fire and Ambulance, Tyler Ambulance, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota DNR all responded at the crash scene.
