Visitors to Southwest State University, including Adalynn and Kallie Kosminkas and Paxton and Madix Wermers, reached out to touch the vapor spilling over the table where SMSU Chemistry Club member Jenna Nemeth stirred up liquid nitrogen ice cream. As part of the university’s homecoming celebrations Friday night, the SMSU Planetarium held a special laser light show featuring classic rock and 1980s music hits. Afterward, the Chemistry Club made ice cream by pouring liquid nitrogen over a mixture of milk, cream, sugar and vanilla. The nitrogen chilled the mixture to the consistency of soft-serve.
