Suby named United Way campaign chair
MARSHALL — United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) announced on Monday that Matt Suby will lead this year’s United Way annual campaign.
Suby is a business development specialist for Western Equipment Finance in Marshall.
The theme for this year’s campaign is “Raise your hand!”
“The United Way of Southwest Minnesota is a vital resource for numerous individuals and organizations in our communities,” Suby said. “These are the people we interact with daily — our friends and neighbors –who encounter real obstacles in pursuing their dreams. We encourage you to ‘Raise Your Hand’ and help us in breaking down these barriers, improving the lives of individuals and families around us, and, in turn, strengthening the communities we call home.”
Suby lives in Marshall with his wife, Deanna, and two daughters, Adalin, and Violet.
He will continue to lead the campaign and resource development committee, comprised of diverse volunteers serving on the UWSWMN board of directors. Together, they will help shape and implement strategies to meet this year’s fundraising goal, the United Way release stated.
Last year, Suby led UWSWMN in reaching 98.5% of the $538,000 campaign goal. For the 2024 campaign, United Way is striving to achieve a goal of $545,000.
Like many previous local leaders in this role, Suby will ensure consistent and reliable leadership. Hans Zahrbock (Western Equipment Finance) chaired the campaign in 2022-23, Al Castor (Lockwood Motors) chaired in 2021-22, Rachel Nuese (Schwan Shared Services LLC) and Michelle Doeling (Minnwest Bank) co-chaired the campaign in 2020-21. Doeling also chaired the campaign in 2019-20, Melanie Pedersen (U.S. Bank) chaired the 2018-19 campaign, and Amy Herrick (North Star Mutual Insurance Company) chaired the 2017-18 campaign.
