Get assistance with removing bats

Submitted photo Erik Greeno is the office manager for The Bat Guys Bat Removal, and helps to manage the requests that come in. Bat Guys Bat Removal specializes in bat removal, attic clean up restoration and bat proofing.

Bats are found in nearly any habitat available and feed on flying insects like mosquitoes and moths, and can also cause damage to crops. They can find a point of entry into homes and buildings through holes, cracks and very time openings.

The Bat Guys Bat Removal is based out of Canby and has been in business for 16 years, and services 15 other states. It specializes in bat removal, attic clean up restoration and bat proofing.

“What we do is, if you have a bat in your house, obviously you have entry points where they’re getting in,” business owner Michael Kack said. “We go around and we fix the entry points, and then we put one-way valve traps in that allow the bats to leave, but not get back into the house.”

There is a large chance if there’s one bat, there may be several of them.

“A lot of people think that they only have one bat in their house,” Kack said. “Bats are mammals, bats live in colonies. They live in a colony that is typically 20 to 30 bats minimum. We’ve seen colonies that are four to five hundred.”

Bats tend to mostly live in the attic of a property, but they can move based on the fluctuating weather and travel through walls to seek a better environment.

Some signs to a bat infestation may be hearing scratching, chirping or chittering throughout attics or walls. They typically are nocturnals and most active at night.

Bats can cause structural damage to a property, along with health issues. It’s recommended that bats are dealt with by professionals and as quickly as possible.

When bats make their way inside, they may leave behind remnants, smells and stains. The Bat Guys Bat Removal will also do attic restoration, to clean and fix up where bats were residing.

Cleanup and restoration prices are quoted by the technician and are separate from bat removal or proofing prices.

The business also follows a 10 year warranty.

“If they [bats] come back within the next 10 years, we will come back for free,” Kack said.
