Bolin to step down as YMCA director
MARSHALL — The Marshall Area YMCA will be working to fill a key leadership position, after current Executive Director Tom Bolin steps down to pursue a new job opportunity.
On Monday, the YMCA announced that Bolin will be leaving Marshall for a new opportunity with the Prairie Lakes Ice Arena in Watertown, S.D. Bolin has served as CEO of the Marshall Area YMCA since 2012.
“We are deeply grateful for Tom’s dedication and contributions to our organization and the community,” said Becky Vogel, Marshall Area YMCA board chair. “While we are sad to see him go, we are excited for his new journey and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
Bolin has been part of some big projects during his time with the Marshall Area YMCA. Board members said he was instrumental in celebrations for the Y’s 20th anniversary in Marshall, in expanding the area farmers market and bringing it to the Schwan’s and YMCA parking lot, and in successfully raising funds to restore the Y’s indoor pool.
“I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together at the Marshall Area YMCA,” Bolin said. “It has been an honor to work with such a dedicated team and to serve this wonderful community. I look forward to seeing the continued success of the YMCA and its impact on the lives of so many.”
Bolin’s last day at the Marshall Area YMCA will be Friday, Oct. 11. The community is invited to a celebration for Bolin on Oct. 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the YMCA lobby.
Marshall Area YMCA board members said the search for a new CEO will begin immediately. In the interim, Jessica Dahms, the YMCA’s current associate executive director, will serve as acting CEO.
