Man injured in grain auger accident in Lyon County
One person was injured in the Russell area Thursday morning in a farm accident involving a grain auger, Lyon County Sheriff Eric Wallen said. Wallen said more information on the person’s identity was not being released, but an adult male was transported to Avera Marshall Medical Center.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office got the call around 9:42 a.m. for an accident in Coon Creek Township, southwest of Russell. An adult male got his leg caught in a grain auger, Wallen said.
“He was able to free himself,” Wallen said, but the man had trauma to his leg. He was transported to Avera Marshall, and the Sheriff’s Office did not have further information on the man’s condition after that point.
The Sheriff’s Office, the Russell First Responders and Russell Fire Department, Balaton Ambulance, and North Memorial Ambulance all responded at the scene.
