MARSHALL — The Marshall School Board approved the 10-year long-term facilities maintenance budget plan at the July 15 meeting.

The middle school theater is the main construction project this year. When finished by the end of August, the theater will have new acoustic panels around the entire room, lighting panels around the new seats, a laser projector, new house lights. Stage lights will also be updated in the future.

“We split that (budget) over two years,” Superintendent Jeremy Williams said. “Half of it was last year’s budget and half is this year’s, but we are doing it in the summer, so it falls between the two fiscal years.”

The fiscal year in school is from July to June.

“Really looking forward to having it be a community space that can be used more frequently,” Williams said. “It was outdated … It needed a lot of work for it to be used to its fullest potential.”

Falling under the long term maintenance budget also is regular repairs that occur over the year like painting, roofing and parking lot fix ups.

The next school board meeting is scheduled for Aug. 5 at 4 p.m.

Starting at $4.38/week.
