Ag Plus announces new CEO
Hilbrands steps into leadership role at cooperative
MARSHALL —Â There’s a new face in a key position at Ag Plus Cooperative. Starting this week, Josh Hilbrands officially started his work as the cooperative’s new Chief Executive Officer.
Hilbrands will lead Ag Plus operations including agronomy, energy, convenience stores and auto shops, Ag Plus Cooperative representatives said in a news release.
“We are excited about the fresh perspectives and leadership Josh will bring to Ag Plus Cooperative,” said Ag Plus Board Chairman Eddie De Langhe. “His strategic vision, dedication to customer satisfaction, and extensive experience and commitment to agriculture make him a valuable addition for employees of Ag Plus and our patrons. We are confident that Josh’s leadership will not only enhance our operational efficiency but also strengthen our ties with the community and uphold the cooperative’s values and mission.”
Ag Plus had announced plans for a change in leadership in January, when President and CEO Todd Ludwig said he would retire July 31. Ludwig led Ag Plus Cooperative since its inception in 2019. Ag Plus was formed in a merger of three southwest Minnesota cooperatives: Farmers Cooperative Association, Lyon County Farm Service, and Prairie Pride Cooperative.
Hilbrands’ experiences in agriculture started early, Ag Plus spokespeople said. He grew up on a family farm in Clara City, and earned an auctioneering degree at the age of 14. Hilbrands has had positions at cooperatives including West-Con, South Dakota Wheat Growers, Agtegra, and most recently New Vision Co-op.
Ag Plus said Hilbrands will be reaching out to meet Ag Plus patrons and introduce himself in the coming weeks.
Ag Plus Cooperative provides agronomy and energy services, and has convenience stores and auto shops. Cooperative locations in the region include C-stores in Canby, Minneota, Ghent, Marshall and Slayton; and automotive shops in Canby, Ivanhoe, Marshall, Minneota and Slayton.
