Two killed in rural Sanborn crash

SANBORN — Two people were killed Sunday in a two-vehicle crash in rural Sanborn, the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office said. The driver and passenger of one vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the second vehicle received non life-threatening injuries, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The crash was reported at about 5:46 p.m. Sunday, at the intersection of 450th Avenue and Cottonwood County Road 11. A 2014 Chevy Equinox was westbound on County Road 11, and a 2007 Chevy Silverado was northbound on 450th Avenue. The two vehicles collided in the intersection, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The names of the two people who died were not immediately released, pending family notification, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the crash scene by the Minnesota State Patrol, Sanborn Fire Department, Sanborn First Responders, Lamberton Ambulance and the Westbrook Ambulance.
