Telling ‘Donkey Tales’ at True Light musical

In a scene from True Light Christian School’s musical “Donkey Tales,” Tex the rancher, played by Reese Livingston, opens up her Bible storybook to share a story with ranch visitors Ora Knochenmus, Mauren Brusven, Otto Meulebroeck and Roman Pflaum.

MARSHALL — Students at True Light Christian School kicked off their 2024 musical with a matinee performance on Wednesday afternoon. This year’s show, “Donkey Tales,” takes the audience to a Western dude ranch to re-tell some of the Biblical stories that mention the humble donkey.

Students in kindergarten through sixth grade sang songs with plenty of country style, and even came dressed up in Western gear – including bandanas and some cowboy-style mustaches and stubble. Students also acted out scenes like the Old Testament story of Balaam and a talking donkey, and the story of the good Samaritan. Each sketch focused on different Christian values.

“Our students have been working hard,” said True Light Principal Zach Schubert, as he welcomed audience members to the show.

There are two more performances of the musical, which will be at 6:30 p.m. today and Friday, at Grace Life Church in Marshall.
