Highway 68 work delayed to May 20

MARSHALL — The start of a planned construction project on Minnesota Highway 68 has been pushed back a week, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said Friday.

Factors like weather made it necessary to reschedule the project, MnDOT spokespeople said.

MnDOT originally planned to resurface part of Highway 68 between North Grant Street in Minneota and the U.S. Highway 59 intersection in Marshall starting May 13. Now, the resurfacing work will start on Monday, May 20. The project is still expected to be completed June 30, MnDOT said.

The city of Ghent is not included in the construction. Highway 68 in Ghent will be resurfaced at a later date, MnDOT said.

The project cost is about $3.1 million.

The resurfacing work will be done under traffic, with no detour, MnDOT said. However, there will be a flagging operation in the work zone, and drivers should plan for extra travel time. Motorists are also asked to slow down in the work zone, and be alert for workers and heavy equipment.

Starting at $3.95/week.
