Fun with bike safety

Emersyn Brunsvold was one of the children who pedaled their way through the bike skills course at Marshall’s annual Bike Safety Extravaganza Monday afternoon. Cones set up outside the Marshall Area YMCA marked out a track where cyclists could practice using proper hand signals and following traffic signs while riding. The Bike Safety Extravaganza was also a chance for area residents to register bikes with the Marshall Police Department for free. The registration helps identify and return bikes to their owners if they are stolen or lost. Monday’s free registration was made possible by the Marshall Area Crime Fund. Of course, the event was also a chance for kids and families to have fun. After riding their bikes to the Y, visitors went inside to play games, enter for prize drawings, and enjoy hot dogs and ice cream.
