Addison parking lot to close Monday

Reconstruction project expected to finish in May

The Addison public parking lot in downtown Marshall will be closed starting Monday, while reconstruction work takes place. The city plans to replace the concrete in the parking lot, and update the parking lot layout. The parking lot project is expected to be complete in May, weather permitting.

MARSHALL — A public parking lot in Marshall’s downtown will be closed for construction starting next week, the city of Marshall announced Friday. The Addison lot, which is located across from the Marshall 6 movie theater near the corner of Lyon Street and College Drive, will be closed beginning Monday, April 22.

The concrete in the Addison lot has been in poor shape for many years. Earlier this month, Marshall public works director Jason Anderson said the city plans to replace the concrete in the parking lot, as well as re-striping the lot with a different traffic flow. Anderson said the reconstructed parking lot will have the same number of parking spaces as before.

Reconstruction of the Addison lot is part of the city’s existing contract for the recent downtown project that rebuilt parts of West Lyon Street and North Third Street, Anderson said.

The Addison lot will be closed while construction and concrete curing are taking place. The reconstruction project is expected to be completed by May 20, weather permitting, the city said.

People who have questions about the Addison lot project should call the city of Marshall public works office, at 507-537-6773.
