‘Getting in front of our customers’

More than 50 vendors show up for Marshall Home Show

MARSHALL — Part of the fun at the Marshall Home Show was getting an in-person look at home and outdoor products.

On Saturday afternoon, the people visiting the Red Baron Arena climbed into the drivers’ seats of golf carts, checked out a pair of pontoons, and walked inside a camper and ice fishing house on display.

“It’s been a fairly good crowd,” said Scott Thissen, of Rebel Campers in Clara City.

Thissen said it had been a while since Rebel Campers had been able to be part of the Home Show, but it was good to be back.

“It’s always good for us … The Marshall area is a very good area,” he said.

The show brought together more than 50 vendors, including a mix of new and returning vendors, organizers said.

By 1 p.m. on Saturday, more than 800 people had visited the home show — and the day wasn’t over yet, event organizers said. Aaron Ziemer, sales manager at Marshall Radio, said the show also saw a spike in deal-seeking visitors Saturday morning during a special flash sale.

For vendors, getting a chance to meet with area residents was an important part of the show.

“A lot of it is just getting in front of our customers,” said Matt Pedersen of Geske Home Improvement.

Laramie Kremer, of Shetek Marine, said this year, area residents were showing interest not only in the pontoons on display at the snow, but in products like boat docks and lifts.

“There’s been a really good turnout,” Kremer said.

While supply chain issues have had an impact on marine manufacturing in recent years, Shetek Marine staff said manufacturers had caught up and had inventory available again.

“It’s really nice to be back,” Kremer said of being at the Home Show.

Thissen said being able to be at the Home Show was positive for Rebel Campers, too. Visitors got a chance to see inside the campers, and connect with salespeople.

Visitors at the show on Saturday were having fun checking out the vendors and food, as well as getting ideas and gathering information for their own projects.

“There’s a lot of good stuff to put on my wish list,” said Trent Fischer.

Mike and Maria Dunn said they were enjoying getting a chance to go to the Home Show.

“We have a lot of small home improvement projects we want to do,” Maria Dunn said.
