Body found in Minnesota River identified
GRANITE FALLS — A man whose body was found in the Minnesota River in Granite Falls this week has been identified, Granite Falls Police said.
The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as David Drown, 65. According to the medical examiner, Drown died by suicide due to hanging, Granite Falls Police said in a Thursday news release.
Police said an investigation of Drown’s death is ongoing. The Granite Falls Police Department is being assisted by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement responded to a report of a body in the river near Highways 212 and 23 on Tuesday morning. A man walking along a nearby path spotted a body in the water and called 911, Police said. The body was taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for formal identification, and to determine cause of death.
The medical examiner identified Drown using his driver’s license photo and his fingerprints, Police said.
