CD7 candidate to visit Marshall Saturday
Steve Boyd to host town hall event at Marshall YMCA
MARSHALL — A Minnesota businessman running for Congress against U.S. Rep. Michelle Fischbach will be making a stop in Marshall over the weekend. Steve Boyd, of rural Kensington, Minn., will be holding a town hall meeting Saturday at the Marshall Area YMCA.
The town hall discussion, titled “What Is Happening To America?” will start at 2 p.m. A flier for the event said the discussion will cover topics like the border crisis, the national debt, family values, government overreach, and diversity, equity and inclusion.
In October, Boyd announced that he would be challenging Fischbach in the Republican primary race in Minnesota’s 7th Congressional District.
According to information on Boyd’s campaign website, Boyd owns a turf management and mosquito control company that serves an area including Douglas, Grant, Pope, Stevens and Swift Counties. He is also a Constitution coach for Patriot Academy, an organization dedicated to teaching about the U.S.’s founding as a Christian country, the site said. As part of being a Constitution coach, Boyd teaches courses about Biblical citizenship at churches and online, the website said.
In January, Boyd hosted an event in Fergus Falls that featured a film about the Jan. 6 attack at the U.S. Capitol. The film was produced by the Epoch Times media organization. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that three Minnesotans who have been federally charged in the Jan. 6 riot spoke at the event.
