One dead in 3-vehicle crash on Hwy. 19
BELVIEW — An Iowa man was killed in a three-vehicle crash involving a semi on Wednesday, the Minnesota State Patrol said.
The crash was reported at 12:58 p.m. on Minnesota Highway 19 in Kintire Township, Redwood County.
At the time of the crash, a 2024 Chevrolet Cruze driven by John Michael Mcwhorter, 41, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, was eastbound on Highway 19, and a 2004 Peterbilt tractor driven by James Randall Adkins, of Brush, Colorado, was westbound when they collided, the State Patrol said. After the initial collision, a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban that was also eastbound on Highway 19 was struck by the Cruze, the State Patrol said.
The drivers of the Suburban and the Peterbilt were not injured, the State Patrol said. Mcwhorter was killed in the crash.
The Redwood County Sheriff’s Office, Belview Fire Department and First Responders, Redwood Falls Fire Department and CentraCare Medical all responded at the crash scene.
