Law enforcement surrounds residence on Thursday

MILROY — Law enforcement had a brief standoff with a person at a residence in Milroy on Thursday morning, the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office said. The suspect later surrendered and was taken into custody. However, because the incident happened near Milroy Public School, the school went into a brief lockdown Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Around 11:21 a.m., the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office was requested to assist the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office in investigating threats of violence. A suspect in the investigation was known to be at a residence on the 200 block of Lorrain Street in Milroy, the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office said.

The suspect was taken into custody and turned over to the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office.

The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted at the scene.
