MARSHALL — Recently, shoppers at the Marshall Hy-Vee may have noticed the sign outside the store, announcing a new dining option in town. On Tuesday, store staff helped celebrate the official opening of Wahlburgers at the Marshall Hy-Vee.
“People seem really excited,” said store director Matt Parkhurst. Soft openings for Wahlburgers at Marshall Hy-Vee had gone well, he said. “It’s really good food.”
Marshall Hy-Vee staff, Marshall city staff and representatives of the Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Wahlburgers on Tuesday morning. The new restaurant option features a variety of burgers, sandwiches, shakes and more.
“This is the 75th Wahlburgers at Hy-Vee,” Parkhurst said of the Marshall opening. “It’s quite a partnership we’ve had.”
The Wahlburgers restaurant was founded in Massachusetts in 2011, by chef Paul Wahlberg and his brothers, actors Donnie Wahlberg and Mark Wahlberg. The restaurant was featured in a reality TV show in 2014, and has expanded into a chain with restaurants around the U.S. In addition to the Marshall Hy-Vee location, there are about a dozen Wahlburgers restaurants in Minnesota, including a location at the Mall of America, the chain’s website said.
A partnership with Hy-Vee has brought Wahlburgers to many Hy-Vee store locations, including Marshall.
Parkhurst said Wahlburgers at the Marshall Hy-Vee will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week. Wahlburgers’ opening won’t change Hy-Vee’s other dining options like breakfasts or HyChi Chinese food, he said. Restaurant customers will be able to order their food at the counter outside the dining area at Hy-Vee, and then go in to be seated.
Parkhurst said Wahlburgers also offers gluten-free menu options.
The news about Wahlburgers opening at the Marshall Hy-Vee had been well-received by customers, Parkhurst said. He also said a good group of employees have helped make the opening possible.
“We have some really talented chefs and cooks,” he said, as well as strong staff at the front of the house.
