MARSHALL -- In a couple of days, country music artists will be back on stage at the campus of Southwest Minnesota State University, for the second Prairie Jam concert.
This year's Prairie Jam headliners are the Eli Young Band. Band members Mike Eli, James Young, Jon Jones and Chris Thompson will be performing in Marshall for the first time Thursday night.
The members of the Eli Young Band all met while they were students at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. They released their debut album in 2002, and have gone on to be multi-platinum performers. EYB has had four No. 1 hits, including "Crazy Girl," "Even If It Breaks Your Heart," Love Ain't," and "Drunk Last Night." Their newest album, "Love Talking," was released last year.
This fall, EYB is touring around the country, with stops in Texas, California, and more. After performing in Marshall, the band is also playing concerts in Waite Park, and Mankato on Friday and Saturday.
With music that combines country and punk rock influences, artist and songwriter Royale Lynn will be performing as the opening act at Prairie Jam. Based in Nashville, Lynn has found viral success for her music, with millions of views across several social media platforms. Her songs "Six Feet Deep" and "Runs In the Water" both debuted high on the American Country iTunes charts, Lynn's website said.
Tickets for the event, which kicks off Thursday evening at the Schwan's Regional Event Center, are still available, said Visit Marshall Director Cassi Weiss. Music fans can go to https://visitmarshallmn.com to get their tickets online. Tickets will also be available at the door of the event. The box office at the Regional Event Center will open at 4:30 p.m., Weiss said.
Doors open for Prairie Jam at 5:30 on Thursday. Royale Lynn is set to take the stage at 6:45, with the Eli Young Band performing at 7:30.
