Ivanhoe considers contracting law enforcement to Lincoln Co.

IVANHOE — The city of Ivanhoe is requesting law enforcement help from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department.

The city of Ivanhoe asked to have a copy of a letter from Ivanhoe City Administrator Carol Renken to Lincoln County Sheriff Chad Meester sent to the Lincoln County Board.

The letter states the city is in need of law enforcement after the retirement of the police chief and asks about the possibility of contracting law enforcement to the Sheriff’s office.

The proposal suggests 15 hours per week of coverage and patrolling, subject to change, and asks for a quote.

The board on Wednesday agreed to consider the proposal after examining the costs.

The board also heard a proposal from Trisha Sheehan representing the University of Minnesota Extension to change the part-time 4-H Extension education position to full time. The position is currently part-time at four days a week. The proposal would extend it to five days a week at an increased salary cost of $15,000 per year.

Starting at $3.95/week.
