Avera Marshall announces board changes
MARSHALL — Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center announced updates to its governing board with the start of a new fiscal year this month.
Todd Bock completed his term of service on the Avera Marshall governing board at the end of June.
“We are grateful to Todd for his 10 years of service. He has been with us during some pivotal times, and we are thankful for his support, leadership and collaboration,” said Debbie Streier, regional president and CEO, Avera Marshall.
Sr. Mary Jaeger is also stepping down from the board after serving for the past year in a temporary role.
“Sr. Mary has lent her time and expertise to Avera Marshall at a number of points in the past, and we always welcome the opportunity to work with her and benefit from her insight and guidance,” Streier said.
Four new members have now joined Avera Marshall’s board:
Sharon Hennen
Sharon Hennen is a registered nurse who has worked in several settings including hospital, clinic, schools and public health. She is semi-retired but continues to work with shot clinics for Avera Marshall and as a substitute school nurse for Marshall Public Schools. She will bring a range of perspectives in her service on the board.
“I have experienced health care as a patient, parent, worker, and caregiver of a parent in hospice. I believe a health care organization is extremely important to members of the community individually and to the community as a whole,” Hennen said.
Sr. Janice Klein
Sr. Janice Klein, PBVM, has served as the congregational president of Presentation Sisters Convent in Aberdeen, S.D. since 2014. She has also been on boards at Avera St. Luke’s, Avera McKennan, Avera Health, Presentation College and more. She brings experience and interest in foundation/development and care of creation.
Tim O’Leary
Tim O’Leary has been the general manager at Lyon-Lincoln Electric Cooperative, Inc. in Tylersince 2002. He has served on several area boards including the Tyler Regional Economic Board, Tyler Area Community Foundation, RTR Educational Foundation, and United Way of Southwest Minnesota, as well as numerous boards within the utility industry. He looks forward to lending support to helping Avera meet the needs of patients and improving quality of life for people in the rural communities it serves.
Jill Vroman
Dr. Jill Vroman has been part of the local medical community for more than 20 years. She is a family medicine/OB physician at the Access Health & Avera Medical Group clinic in Marshall. Having grown up near Milroy, she is a southwest Minnesota native. Her leadership and board experience includes serving as Avera Marshall’s Chief of Staff and on boards with the Marshall Area YMCA, Marshall Hoops and Marshall Girls Basketball Association. She also recently completed Avera’s Physician Academy program.
“I look forward to working with each of these individuals on the board,” Streier said. “Their varied backgrounds, professions and individual strengths will bring valuable perspectives and reflect meaningful points of view. What they have in common is a passion for preserving and enhancing health care for our region, aligning with Avera’s commitment to rural health care. And we are grateful they are willing to lend their support and energy to that cause.”
The Avera Marshall board of directors makes decisions concerning the local governance of the organization.
The directors include community members from the region and representatives of the Avera system.
