Marshall Farmers’ Market opens Saturday
MARSHALL — Summer is here, and with it comes a chance to shop for fresh produce, crafts and more. The Marshall Farmers’ Market opens Saturday morning, in the parking lot behind the Marshall Area YMCA. The market will be open every Saturday through October, from 7:30 a.m. to noon.
This year, the Marshall Farmers’ Market will continue to offer area residents a chance to get fresh, healthy foods through initiatives like the Power of Produce (POP) program. The POP program gives kids ages 3 to 13 a free $2 token each Saturday, that can be used to purchase a fruit or vegetable of their choice. The market also accepts EBT/SNAP, and offers Market Bucks for customers, the Marshall Farmers’ Market website said. Market Bucks match up to $20 of SNAP benefits to help customers buy local produce.
People visiting the market can also enjoy a variety of musical performances. Starting July 8, different performers will play each week, with musical styles ranging from jazz and bluegrass to rock and pop. Performances are scheduled from 9-11 a.m. In case of rain, performances will be inside the YMCA.
