The Marshall Speech Team competed at the Section 2AA Tournament at Mankato West on Saturday and captured third place overall. Six speakers advanced to the state tournament in their respective categories. Winning first place in dramatic duo were Elly Lewis and Cecelia Cordes, and second place in duo went to Manzi Bell and Tera Johnson.

Placing second and third in humorous were Connor Martinson and Mary Lanoue. Other Marshall students who advanced to the final round in their categories were Lydia Weverka, fourth in creative expression; Naomi Schroeder, fourth in serious prose; Isaiah Brusven and Carson Brusven, fourth in dramatic duo; Maddy VanKeulen, fifth in humorous; and Hser Htoo, sixth in great speeches. The State Speech Tournament will be held at Eastview High School in Apple Valley on April 28.
