1 arrested in Balaton drug bust

BALATON — One person was arrested Thursday in connection with an investigation by a regional drug task force.

Drugs, including around 6.5 grams of fentanyl, were found after a search warrant was executed in Balaton on Thursday, according to a Friday Brown Lyon Redwood Renville Drug Task Force press release.

Lyon County District Court records said Miranda Michelle Sanow, 25, of Balaton, appeared in court Friday on charges of third degree narcotics sale.

A criminal complaint alleges that the BLRR Drug Task Force and other law enforcement conducted a search of an apartment in Balaton on Feb. 9. Law enforcement found a baggie of a substance that tested positive for the opioid fentanyl, as well as fentanyl packaged for sale, the complaint alleges.

According to the task force release, law enforcement also found methamphetamine and marijuana. The amount of fentanyl found in the search was enough for about 65 doses, and would be worth about $1,950 on average in Minnesota.

Lyon County Court records said bail for Sanow was set at $40,000 without conditions, or $30,000 cash or bond with conditions including that she not leave Minnesota, abstain from alcohol and drugs, and be subject to testing. A future hearing date was set for Feb. 21.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Buffalo Ridge Drug Task Force assisted in the operation. The investigation was also helped by a tip to Crime Stoppers of Minnesota, according to the release.

Starting at $3.95/week.
