MARSHALL -- A Minneota woman appeared in Lyon County court this week for charges of state lottery fraud, Lyon County court records said.
Kristy Jo Williams, 51, appeared in Lyon County District Court on Tuesday on two separate sets of lottery fraud charges. In one case, Williams was charged with four counts of state lottery fraud. A criminal complaint alleges that Williams claimed a total of $162 in cash prizes from stolen lottery tickets in Balaton in January 2022.
In a second case, Williams was also charged with three counts of state lottery fraud. A criminal complaint alleges that Williams claimed a total of $455 in prizes from stolen lottery tickets in Marshall in January 2022.
Criminal complaints in both cases allege that the lotteray tickets Williams redeemed were ones that had been stolen in a burglary at a gas station in Slayton.
At Tuesday's hearing, the court found probable cause for both sets of fraud charges, court records said. A future hearing date was set for Jan. 31.
