Lyon County sets 3.4% levy increase
MARSHALL — On Tuesday, Lyon County commissioners set a county budget and levy for 2023.
Commissioners approved a proposed levy increase of 3.435% over the previous year.
Lyon County Administrator Loren Stomberg said the proposed budget and levy were the same amounts as proposed at the county’s “Truth In Taxation” meeting earlier this month.
The proposed 2023 budget included a total net levy of increase of about 3.4%. That would work out to an increase of $532,757, the budget said.
Like many local governments, Lyon County faced challenges and uncertainties in this year’s budget process. In budget discussions earlier this fall, Stomberg told commissioners that the county faced financial uncertainties like the costs of rising inflation, as well as changing costs of budget items like equipment and fuel.
On Tuesday, commissioners voted in favor of the 3.435% levy increase.
