MARSHALL -- The opportunity to learn about different career paths became a hands-on experience for area high school students at the Southwest Minnesota Career Expo on Wednesday.
The expo brought together dozens of area employers and programs from colleges and universities at the SMSU campus. Many of the booths had interactive elements designed to show high school sophomores and juniors a little bit about the jobs in different fields. Students also had a chance to take part in a careers-themed game show, and take tours of SMSU.
Career fields represented at the show ranged from manufacturing to health care and education. About 1,200 high school sophomores and juniors from 22 area schools attended Wednesday's expo, event organizers said.
The expo was sponsored by the Southwest Minnesota Workforce Development Board and the Southwest Initiative Foundation.
