Missing 2-year-old found in Redwood Co. cornfield

REDWOOD COUNTY — A missing child was found Tuesday afternoon after spending more than four hours in a cornfield, the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office said.

At 2:38 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office was called to a property on the 45000 block of 230th Street in Redwood County for reports of a missing 2-year-old child. The child walked into the fields north of the property, the Sheriff’s Office said. Emergency responders and volunteers from Redwood, Brown and Stearns counties conducted a search.

At 6:54 p.m., the child was found in the cornfield to the east of the property, the Sheriff’s Office said. The child was treated and released at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The Redwood County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, the New Ulm Police Department, Morgan Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, the Minnesota DNR, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, Redwood Falls Fire Department, Morgan Fire Department, Sleepy Eye Fire Department Springfield Fire Department and Morgan Ambulance, along with local volunteers.
